Oxygen therapy devices fall into three different categories:
(1) Low concentration 24% - 35%
(2) Medium concentration 35% - 60%
(3) High concentration 60% - 90%
The Nasal Cannula and the High and Medium Concentration Masks are approximate devices providing oxygen at the level of 21% to 90%. The Venturi Mask provides known accurate levels of Oxygen at set levels, also the high flow characteristic of the Venturi Mask ensures the elimination of unwanted Carbon Dioxide regardless of the patient-breathing pattern.
The appropriate use of Oxygen can be life saving, however at the same time failure to use Oxygen correctly can be fatal. Therefore, it is vitally important that Oxygen is administered correctly; customised training is an integral part of the Lifecare Oxygen Therapy solution.
